GeneralRosemoor is in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, in the small hamlet of Walwyn's Castle. Most maps will indicate the location of Walwyn's Castle and Rosemoor itself is shown on the 1:50,000 Ordnance Survey Sheet No. 157 (St. David's and Haverfordwest) at grid reference 876108. Walwyn's Castle is just off the B4327 Haverfordwest - Dale Road; at six miles from Haverfordwest approximately equidistant between them. Rosemoor is in easy reach of many safe, unpolluted sandy beaches and havens. The broad sweep of St. Bride's Bay (visible in the photograph on our homepage) is only two miles away at its nearest point. It is a nice walk of just 45 minutes through the fields from Rosemoor to one of the pubs in Little Haven for (Sunday) Lunch and back! By Car - Avoiding HaverfordwestMost visitors come into South West Wales by way of the M4 Motorway. Where the M4 ends it will get you first onto the A48 and then onto the A40. On entering Haverfordwest from the A40 take the Milford Haven Road exit from the second roundabout. You are then on the by-pass (Freemen's Way). At its far end take the second exit, again signposted Milford Haven. After 100 yards, immediately before the railway bridge, take the right turn, signposted "Tiers Cross 3½ miles". Follow this road into and through Tiers Cross, taking the turn right, signposted "Walwyn's Castle" immediately after the derestriction sign. You are then on a long narrow lane, which, after approximately two miles, faces straight into the drive of Rosemoor.By Car - Entering HaverfordwestIf you either wish or have to go into Haverfordwest, follow the signs for Broad Haven to the top of the town, where, on leaving the town, the road forks at a pub called the Belle Vue.Take the left hand fork, signposted "Dale". 4¾ miles from the Belle Vue turn left towards the crest of the hill (signposted "Walwyn's Castle"). At the T-junction which follows, turn left (signposted "Tiers Cross") and, after 100 yards, follow the road round a right hand bend at Brook Cottage. You now have the Rosemoor Nature Reserve on your right hand and you follow the lane up the hill until you come to a sharp 90-degree bend to the left, where you will find the main gate of Rosemoor on your right, tucked in the bend. By TrainApart from school buses (which may be used by people of non-schoolgoing age as well) there are no regular bus services connecting Walwyn's Castle to the rest of the world. If notified some time in advance of your arrival we shall however be pleased to arrange a pick-up from Haverfordwest railway station. Likewise, on your day of departure a drop-off at the station can be arranged. During your stay you may wish to use the services of a privately operated bus service, which in season can set you down and pick you up at various points along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
Inside the GroundsInside the grounds of Rosemoor, follow the sign "Cottages".The name of your cottage appears on its front door; the key will be in the lock; all will be ready for you; walk in; welcome! We are sure you will have a comfortable holiday. |
